FREE VIRTUAL SEMINAR
The New Faces of the Rhône
Virtual Seminar with Julien Cecillon & Victor Coulon
Zoom
2:00pm - 3:00pm ET

Join us as we get into the Tablée spirit with this virtual seminar two weeks prior to the in-person events in New York. Vignerons Julien Cecillon of the Northern Rhône and Victor Coulon of Domaine de Beaurenard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape will join us to chat about the young, dynamic new generation of winemakers in the Rhône, challenges and opportunities in the region, and what they see the future holds.

La Tablée & Acker present: The New Faces of the Rhône Wine Pack

To accompany the La Tablée Rhône Wine Festival’s complimentary kickoff virtual event - The New Faces of the Rhône on Saturday, November 18 - this two-pack includes wines from both featured winemakers at the seminar.

Order by November 13 (NY, NJ, CT) or November 7 (rest of continental US) to receive the wine to taste along with Julien & Victor during the seminar - or join us to learn about the wines and then enjoy at your holiday table!

Domaine Julien Cecillon, Saint-Joseph Rouge Babylone 2021

Although Cecillon is a fairly new project, the family has been making wine for eleven generations in Tournon. Julien Cecillon’s maternal family includes iconic winemakers such as his cousin, Bernard Faurie, and uncle Jean-Louis Grippat. He met his wife Nancy Kerschen, originally from Houston, Texas, in California, and in 2010 they decided to move back to Tournon and make wine.

Tournon is one of the six original villages that make up the historic core of Saint Joseph. The parcels here are unique, with some of the vines being a century old. 50% whole cluster, fermentation in stainless steel 17 months’ élevage in barrel.

We have admired the wines from this domaine for some time and were fortunate to introduce the range from Cecillon to those who attended La Tablée last year. Here is another opportunity to taste Julian’s superb expression of Syrah.

Domaine de Beaurenard, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2020

Domaine de Beaurenard has been a family-run estate for eight generations. The Coulon family has farmed this historic vineyard named Bois Renard since they purchased it in 1695, and have committed to farming responsibly with organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards.

Victor Coulon, the current generation in charge at the estate, is producing an approachable and fresh style of wine from this region.

Their Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a co-fermented blend of the 13 permitted varieties, predominantly Grenache. The winery is known for long fermentations of over 30 days, with gentle extractions occurring under temperature-regulated conditions and hand-punchdowns. This is quintessential Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the sense that it is a reflection of the diversity of grapes and soil types from this region.

The Genius of Noël Verset
a dinner with Mannie Berk of The Rare Wine Co.
SAGA - 70 Pine Street, 63rd Floor, New York, NY 10005
6:30pm Champagne Philipponnat Reception | Tues. Nov 28
$2,250

presented by

Noël Verset was a legendary vigneron  in the village of Cornas who had a profound impact on the appellation in the 20th century. This extraordinary personality started with his father Emmanuel in 1931 at the age of 12, and the first wine under his name, from a rented vineyard, came in 1943. After inheriting the family domaine and purchasing more land, he continued to make staunchly traditional wines until his last vintage in 2006 - an absolutely remarkable career of 75 years of continuous work in the vineyard. In the 1980’s, Verset became an international star, famous for the incredible balance, finesse, and purity of his wines, even in difficult vintages. We are honored to kick off La Tablée 2023 with a dinner featuring fourteen of Verset’s extremely rare wines, from his final vintage of 2006 back to the renowned 1985. The wines are sourced from the vaunted cellars of Mannie Berk & The Rare Wine Co. and will be paired with the elegant cuisine of Chef James Kent at SAGA.

Seating is extremely limited.

One of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, having grown grapes since the 1500’s, Château La Nerthe was also one of the first estates in the appellation to bottle their own wine and first to export outside of France. Organically certified since 1998, the Château has vines in every type of Châteauneuf terroir - sand, clay, loam, and of course the famous galets roulés, and has all 13 permitted grape varieties planted. We are pleased to be joined by commercial director Christophe Bristiel for this exclusive dinner showcasing La Nerthe’s remarkable wines with a deep dive into the estate’s library collection featuring great vintages of the estate’s stellar Châteauneuf Blanc and single vineyard Clos de Beauvenir, followed by twin verticals of Châteauneuf Rouge and the legendary old-vine Cuvée des Cadettes back to 1989, all in magnum. We will finish with the  extremely rare Châteauneuf 1979.
