Finesse. Purity. Soulfulness. These are some of the words that describe the remarkable wines of Château Rayas and the Reynaud family. We are honored to be joined by one of the grandes dames of the wine industry and Rayas’ longtime West Coast importer, Martine Saunier, along with Gregory Castells, the current president of Martine’s Wines, for a dinner featuring an extremely rare lineup of wines from the Reynaud family, all of which were imported directly from the estate. Martine and Gregory will offer an insider’s look into one of the most enigmatic cellars in the Southern Rhône, and will share stories and color from their long relationship with the late Jacques Reynaud, who made Rayas’ reputation, and with his nephew Emmanuel Reynaud, the current winemaker who is still adding to the legacy of this great estate. The wines will be paired with the elegant French cuisine of Chef Marie-Aude Rose at La Mercerie.

Seating is extremely limited.

Gus’s Chop house | 215 union street, brooklyn, NY 11231
6:30pm Champagne Philipponnat Reception | Thurs. Nov 17

Eleven generations of the Cecillon family have made wine in Tournon-sur-Rhône, and Julien Cecillon & his wife, Texas-born Nancy Kerschen, are continuing this great legacy in the Northern Rhône. Drawing upon familial wisdom when needed (Julien is the cousin of Bernard Faurie and the nephew of the now-retired Jean-Louis Grippat) and their own considerable winemaking talents, Julien & Nancy are at the forefront of the new generation of producers working in the appellations of Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, and beyond. This dinner will feature a variety of appellations from Cecillon paired with the cuisine of Chef Chris McDade, inspired by the European chop houses and casual bistros that McDade and partner James O’Brien have experienced throughout their travels as well as regional ingredients.

A longtime Lyonnais tradition, the mâchon is a convivial meal usually served in the morning featuring hearty charcuterie and other classic dishes, all washed down with lots of Rhône and Beaujolais wine. Originally served to Lyon’s silk workers coming off the night shift, the mâchon is now more of a pastime for lovers of Lyon’s beloved gastronomic tradition. La Tablée is thrilled to recreate a mâchon at Bar Boulud, Chef Daniel Boulud’s love letter to the charcuterie and dishes of his hometown. Winemakers Olivier Leriche of Domaine des Accoles, Alexis Gerin of Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin, Guillaume Clusel of Maison Clusel-Roch, and Isabelle Sabon of Domaine de la Janasse will pour wines that will perfectly complement the refined and soulful Lyon-inspired cuisine.

Grenache is the king of grape varieties in the Southern Rhône but is usually blended with a supporting cast of other grapes like Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Carignan, and Syrah, among others. How does Grenache perform on its own, though? We are thrilled to be joined by three of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s finest producers - Guillemette Giraud (daughter of Isabel Ferrando) of Famille Isabel Ferrando (Saint-Préfert), Isabelle Sabon of Domaine de la Janasse, and Marie & François Giraud of Domaine Giraud  to showcase the potential of Grenache as a monovarietal wine. David Gordon, chef sommelier of La Tablée, noted authority on Southern Rhône wines, and one of only three Americans to be named honorary citizens of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, will moderate the discussion.

We are honored to be joined by Maxime Graillot for an extremely special dinner to honor the life and legacy of his late father, our dear friend Alain Graillot.

Alain was a highly respected vigneron who entered the profession later in life. When he purchased a domaine in Crozes-Hermitage in 1985, it was a humble appellation and he was inexperienced, but Alain’s instincts and hard work (and the advice of his good friends, the legendary Burgundian winemakers Patrick Bize and Jacques Seysses) led to a long career in crafting soulful wines of intense character that were monumentally influential in establishing the reputation that Crozes enjoys today. This dinner will feature both wines made by Alain and more recent vintages made by Maxime and his brother Antoine, paired with a tasting menu by Chef Melissa Rodriguez.
